What is the FUEL method?

Fundamentals: This is where you will explore and reflect on your past dieting behaviors and eating history. You will learn about the harms of dieting, why it doesn’t work long-term and how to stop binge eating for good. This phase will also set the foundations for you to start viewing food in a new way through mindset work...this piece is key in finally being able to hop off the yo-yo dieting cycle.

Understanding Your Body Cues: You will learn to tune into your body to tell you when and how much to eat instead of following a meal plan or calorie counting. You will regain trust with your body so that app in your phone no longer controls you. You will also explore what food rules you have that inhibit you from tuning into your body and will learn to finally make peace with food.  

Education: Nutrition can feel confusing, but it doesn’t have to be. Here you will learn to honor your body with nutrition and exercise. Oh hi there! I almost forgot to introduce myself

I’m Laura Farrell, a registered dietitian who is passionate about helping women like you improve their relationship with food and fitness. From veggies to ice cream, I believe all foods can fit into a healthy diet. However, that wasn’t always the case.
I grew up an athlete, but after I stopped playing high school sports I was introduced to this fitness culture where the goal was no longer about winning on the field, but instead looking your best. I did tons of different workout programs, hired trainers, and bought so many supplements.⠀
At this time, I thought I was the epitome of health. But this all came at a cost, I would feel guilty for having a rest day and also would feel bad eating certain foods in front of people because they would think I “wasn’t healthy”. But then, I realized this wasn’t sustainable or truly healthy for my mind & bodyI was burnt out and ready to let go of the obsession over food. 
Through studying to become a dietitian, I learned more about what a healthy relationship with food looked like & finally found a new way of thinking about food and exercise.
While I feel it's important to acknowledge my thin privilege on this journey (meaning society doesn’t shame me for my body size) I am passionate about creating a space where people of all backgrounds, body shapes & sizes can explore what health means to them in a new light and be free of the controls that dieting has placed on them for years. 
Now, I take what I've learned over the years to help active ladies like you truly find BALANCE and FREEDOM with food & fitness and this is exactly my goal for you with the Fuel for Freedom Academy.

  • Can I still reach my fitness goals following the FUEL method?
Pursuing food freedom doesn’t mean giving up health goals! I’ve had dozens of clients who reached new PRs, lifted heavier and ran faster because they finally started fueling their body without guilt. When you move away from a restrictive mindset and learn to eat for your body, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve and this the Fuel for Freedom Academy will teach you all of that.
  • I really want a better relationship with food, but I also want to lose weight...is this the right program for me?
You are not alone and I don’t blame you! We live in a world that glamorizes weight loss and puts the pursuit of thinness on a pedestal. I totally understand and sympathize with not being satisfied with your body and having a desire to lose weight. Because of this, I don’t expect you or anyone to turn that desire off overnight. 
However, in the video trainings you will learn that solely pursuing weight loss isn’t beneficial for true long-term mental and physical health. Working on your relationship with food isn’t easy, but being stuck in the cycle of restricting and binging isn’t sustainable either. During this process, you will work towards finding your happy weight, the weight that you feel best both mentally and physically. Instead I will teach you to focus on non-scale wins, such as changes in energy, mood, digestion, mindset, confidence in social situations, and your overall well being.  
You don’t have to be completely over the desire to lose weight, but rather open to exploring things in a new way.   • How long should I commit to the course each week?
Since the course is self-paced, you can go at a speed that feels good for you and works for your schedule. Your access to the videos never expires (As long as I still have an account with the platform where the videos are held). However, I recommend that you take at least a week in between each module to really soak in what you have learned and have adequate time to complete the handouts/activities before diving into a new topic. At minimum, the course should take 2 months to complete, but 3-4 months is recommended.
